Develop a Plan to Address Intoxicated Individuals at the Door

To prepare for your party or event, you also must have a plan for how you will deal with intoxicated individuals attempting to enter your party. Also, you must keep the people who are checking ID’s at the door informed of the plan.

For the sake of the safety of your current guests, you should not allow intoxicated individuals in your event. Once inside, they could cause damage, personal injury or drink more. If you let them into your party, they become your responsibility.

If someone who is intoxicated has come to the door of your event, here are a few options for handling the situation appropriately:

1. If they have come with at least one sober friend then speak with the sober friend to see if they can assist the person home.
2. Offer to call the intoxicated individual a cab. To see a list of cab companies in your area, click here.

Try to get that person home in as safe a manner as possible. Whatever the case, make sure that your people checking IDs know not to allow intoxicated individuals inside.
