- MS&T can provide funding for student organization events, but the event must be catered by Chartwell’s. Only employees of Chartwell’s are allowed to serve alcohol or card customers.
- In order to use Chartwells, you will need to follow a few steps that include getting permission from the Chancellor. To begin this process, use these links:
- You will also need to take steps to determine who will be the responsible party, your student organization or the caterer.
- Is your event an ‘official’ event for your student organization? If the organization serves as an enabler for the event, the organization, or its leaders, can be held responsible, regardless of the number of attendees who are members of the organization.
- If a campus rule or local law is violated by a student organization, then there is automatically a national violation, because the rules of every national organization are stricter than campus and local regulations. Organizations need to be held accountable to the rules they set for themselves, not just the campus policies.
- If there is a rule violation by a Greek organization, the Greek Judicial-board can make a decision to inform a house’s national office, which then in return can act upon the issue. The campus or Greek advisor also can send in any concerns/violations to their nationals. In some situations after a violation, the Nationals put sanctions that the chapter must abide by in order to stay in good standings. These sanctions must be followed or the organization charter can be revoked.
